In luxury fashion, few bags manage to stay iconic, innovative, and versatile all at once. The LOEWE Puzzle Bag is one of them. Jonathan Anderson created it in 2014, marking a turning point not just for the accessory world—but for LOEWE itself.
A BAG THAT REDEFINED LUXURY
When Jonathan Anderson took over as LOEWE’s creative director in 2013, he didn’t waste time making his mark. A year later, he introduced the Puzzle Bag during the brand’s Spring/Summer 2015 menswear show.
Its unique cuboid shape, crafted from sharply cut leather panels, broke the mold. Unlike traditional bags, this one folded completely flat without losing form—showcasing both aesthetic ingenuity and exceptional craftsmanship.
Though Anderson originally designed it for men, the bag quickly resonated with everyone. Celebrities like Beyoncé and Timothée Chalamet helped it go mainstream, while its shape made it instantly recognizable on any runway or street.
PUZZLE 10: A DECADE IN THE MAKING
To honor this milestone, LOEWE launched the Puzzle 10 Collection—a vibrant tribute to the bag’s legacy. The brand reissued 19 limited-edition designs, each reflecting a creative highlight from the past decade.
LOEWE used a mix of techniques such as embroidery, appliqué, printing, and patchwork. One standout piece, the Confetti Puzzle, dazzles with thousands of sequins inspired by artist Lara Favaretto’s installations.
Each design includes a commemorative metal plaque, suede lining, and a balloon charm—playful details that tie the series together. Fashion lovers can find the collection at select LOEWE flagships, Bergdorf Goodman, and Harrods.
FROM RUNWAY TO GALLERY
LOEWE didn’t stop at a reissue. From May 29 to June 16, the brand is transforming Bergdorf Goodman into a Puzzle experience. The New York pop-up spotlights iconic styles and artist collaborations, turning a retail space into an immersive design showcase.
Visitors can explore reimagined bags that nod to artists like Ken Price and William Morris—reminding us how fashion and fine art continue to intersect in the LOEWE universe.
THE LEGACY OF JONATHAN ANDERSON
Jonathan Anderson’s leadership elevated LOEWE’s global profile. He fused tradition with bold experimentation, making the Puzzle Bag his ultimate signature piece.
Now that Anderson has stepped down, the Puzzle 10 Collection serves as a farewell letter of sorts—a celebration of a design era defined by curiosity, craftsmanship, and culture.
WHY THE PUZZLE STILL STANDS OUT
In a world flooded with fleeting trends and throwaway fashion, the Puzzle Bag offers something rare: lasting relevance. It blends form and function, playfulness and precision.
Ten years later, it still feels fresh. And with the Puzzle 10 Collection, LOEWE isn’t just looking back—it’s reminding the fashion world what great design really looks like.
